Sorry Wallace!
This morning we managed to get up early enough to drive back to the base for Stroller Strides. It was the grand opening of the chapter started by my friend Lindsey and we had a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the pictures posted on her blog...all the strollers and babies and balloons!!
Most of the fun happened on our way to the base, I took the whippets with me, so that they could have a play date of their own with Bailey and Harley (Elizabeth's dogs). I didn't feed them breakfast before hand because I knew they would throw up...apparently Gromit was determined to throw up anyways. About halfway through the ride, he starts panicking, whining, very distressed. I tried to comfort him but noticed the wild look in his eye as he was frantically trying to find somewhere to throw up.
All I could say was, "PLEASE not on the baby!!" He stuck his snout on my shoulder and started heaving and I was like, "PLEASE not on me!" so he moved off of me, and then threw up all over Wallace who was laying in the back floor board. Sorry Wallace!!!, I guess I should've made a request for you too. Wallace just looked at me like, "Mooooom! He threw up on me!!!" Then I think Gromit felt guilty, and started trying to groom Wallace (YUCK). I was trying to wipe Wallace off with baby wipes as we're going down the road and rolling the windows down to get the stink out....and Gavin was rolling with laughter...I know just how you felt Wallace, MY own brother once threw up all over me on a boat trip across the English Channel....not fun at all!!
After all that fun, Stroller Strides was a good workout and the play date afterwards was fun also. It's theme was "Bubbles and Balls" and Gavin must've thought.."My two favorite things in the world!"
After that, Elizabeth and I took a walk with the dogs for old time's sake. We had already been by our old house during the workout...as I mentioned a couple moved in already, and they had put in some hard work on the yard. They were watering the grass more than me...(when we moved to Mississippi, it was from Texas, and I was used to water restrictions and didn't want to "waste" water on grass...I was more of the mind...if it rains, the grass gets watered. And I'd water if it didn't rain that week)...so the grass looked good, and they had put in a bit more mulch around the flowers and a little fence around my crepe myrtle tree.
My zinnias were outdoing themselves, they looked fantastic, I wish I'd had the nerve to knock on the door and ask to take a few more pictures. I'm just excited that someone moved in who cared about all the hard work I put into them!
I also stopped by to see our neighbor who just had her second baby. He was so adorable and reminded me alot of Gavin, with all the hair on his head.
It was a fun morning, and helped me get out of my funk. Probably exercising for the first time in weeks and being with old friends. Though I forgot to mention I found out a friend from high school is actually stationed at our new base, so once we get settled I'll have a familiar face!! I also know it won't be too long before I have new friends, but its never the same as with your "old" friends.
