Phew! I am so relieved that we never followed through on our plans to get another dog! Originally, we wanted the two whippets and a German Shepherd. Well, since we're dog sitting for our neighbors, we've had Bailey and Sam over in the backyard this afternoon. But whoa! I could not handle four dogs, or even three on a permanent basis.
W & G LOOOOOVE Sam and Bailey and I'm sure wish these arrangements were permanent. They were sitting at the gate when I walked back over with the girls this afternoon (once the rain stopped). And then went nuts once the girls were let loose. Everyone chased each other for a very long time, barking and rooing and having a grand 'ol time. Poor Gromit got picked on, because he's the smallest. The girls kept cornering him and pushing him over, when they'd let him up, he'd run over to me for reassurance. LOL what a momma's boy! Poor Sam misses her parents and so she didn't really want to play that much. But Wallace managed to get her to chase him for awhile, he leaped and dashed and jumped over her trying to get away from her, I think he underestimated her speed, he's sort of full of himself, and knows that he's faster than every dog that comes to play (except Gromit who easily keeps up with him). But Sam gave him a run for his money.
Everyone got covered in mud, and no one enjoyed their impromptu baths in the cold wind. (Sorry kids!) But I think everyone is going to sleep well tonight!
I wish I had taken pictures, maybe tomorrow- though I'm not keen on giving everyone a bath again...so we might just do long walks if there's good weather. But Lindsey- if you do read this, Poor Sam is pitiful. Every time I unlock the door ,she peeks around the kitchen door and just looks at me like "Sigh...You're not my mom!" Bailey doesn't seem to mind as long as someone will pet her. They walked really well with me and the stroller, and when I stopped to pick up poo...Bailey licked Gavin until he laughed, which made her really happy. It was pretty darn cute.
Gav loves all animals and he enjoyed watching the four dogs dashing about in the backyard. He discovered how to bounce in his bed today...what a joy that will be in the morning!! He's also been throwing his favorite stuffed animal (a penguin named Unca) out of the crib and then crying about it. But as soon as I put Unca back in the crib, he throws him right back out. Then he just stands at the rail, crying and hold his little hands out for Unca to climb back in. Somedays I get so tired of being a penguin fetcher!! But I have to either put Unca back in the crib and hope Gavin stops throwing him out, or I have to put him away for awhile, because if Gromit strolls in and finds Unca in the floor...I know that could very well be the end of poor Unca. Gromit is big on stealing baby toys/clothes/blankets/pacifiers.. he thinks they're so much cooler than his toys!
Well- I've got to make a last run over to check on S & B...
