*toenails clicking across the bathroom floor*
*mysterious scraping*
*Clang!* *CLANG!* *CLANG!*
...what on earth is the dog doing?!
I wandered into the bathroom and find Gromit nosing the toilet lid up...apparently his water bowl was empty (the first clang may have been him pawing it over in an attempt to bring it to me (his usual trick when the bowl runs dry) and he was trying to nose open the everlasting water bowl to quench his thirst.
Now he's harassing my dad to snuggle with him on the couch. He has a snuggle complex, he's perpetually cold and lonely and wants nothing more than to tuck his long snout under your arm and burrow into you for warmth. Never mind that it's the middle of summer...never mind that my dad is not the dog snuggling type, Gromit is determined to win him over.
Now he's back for more water. Thankfully I refilled his bowl, and I even got a thank you nuzzle and lick for it.
Show us a better way to spend $300 than on the iPhone 3G.
We got Wallace for $300, and I think he's a much better deal than any phone.
He's also wireless....completely independent of all power sources, no lengthy recharging here- well, except for food and petting, he requires daily recharges of those.
He's fast (the I phone says it's 2x as fast previous models)...well, 2x as fast compared to a whippet? I don't think so.
So the I phone has an Ipod built in...Wally makes his own music, "Awwwwoooo"- no silly 99 cent song downloads here...it's free and ready to go at any time.
He responds to touch too...Just scratch his neck, he'll be your best friend forever.
I'll take a whippet buddy any day over a cell phone :)
Any proper fan of the Wallace and Gromit short-films or movies, knows that Wallace (the human) LOVES cheese. He's always finding it, eating it, sharing it, talking about it- you get the idea...
I just thought this picture was funny...not the same type of cheese of course, but I captioned it...
"Cheese Gromit!"
Yesterday was Wallace's 2nd birthday. He celebrated with his favorite flavor of wet dog food (Gromit got a can too), and then got his customary stuffed honking goose (It's one of his favorite toys, and he gets one on his birthday and it usually lasts the whole year which is a miracle with squeaky toys in our house). He got lots of hugs and kisses, and was called "Birthday whippet" all day. (Gromit was "un-birthday whippet). I went to the local pet boutique and bought him a box of gourmet dog biscuits (with dog "chocolate" i.e. carob). He shared nicely with Gromit even.
Then he got a nice long walk when Nana and I came home from shopping (for Gavin's first birthday party decorations). He was supposed to get to sleep on the bed, but today is final check ride day, and Andrew needed the sleep, so he can climb in bed tonight (I don't think Wally will mind that it's a day late).
I'm trying to find matching martingale collars for them both, I color code all of their things. Wallace wears blue (because of his blue eye), and Gromit wears red...because he's spunky like that. I can't decide on a design for the collars yet, and I'm having no luck finding "matching" collars in their colors. I found really cute sockmonkey designed martingales that come in red and blue, but we wanted more traditional looking martingales, so I don't guess I'll order those right now.
I can't believe Wallace is already 2, *crossing fingers that he'll begin to mellow out some more*. He really is the better behaved of our two boys. He's much calmer than Gromit, but he could still do to be much calmer when people come over to visit. It does seem like just yesterday we met Wallace, he was such a wiggly little puppy, who didn't appreciate being brought in from playing to be examined by us. (We were at the breeder's actually looking at Gromit and they mentioned Wallace being there- he couldn't be shown because of his blue eye, so no one really wanted him (buyers- not the breeders, they adored him!)
When we picked him up a few weeks later, and then moved to Texas, he showed us what an adorably sweet whippet was like. He's always been a momma's boy (unless he's running off-leash and then he's Mr. Independent). He's wonderful with Gavin and just a super well behaved dog. (Except for begging, he's hopeless!) I hope we have many many more birthdays with him :)
Show us something cheerful.

Then Gromit will bring you toys (squeakies and tennis balls- his ultimate favorites) and drop them at your feet, just begging you to play with him. If you decline, he'll play by himself, or bite on Wallace until he'll play with him. I'm always telling Andrew that I wish I woke up in as good a mood as Gromit. Nothing gets him down. He's just so lovable and always wanting to share his love with everyone.
Show us the ugliest thing you own.
Our oldest whippet, Wallace has a famous dad! At least in the dog show world :)
His dad is NSBIS, BIS Ch. Sportingfields Rock On - they call him Trent, was representing the whippets tonight in the AKC Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
I of course tried to show Wallace his dad on tv (didn't care a bit). It was really neat to see his dad in action though (We only met his mom when we purchased him). I think he looks a lot like his dad...
